Homework assignments for the week as well as project assignments/directions will be posted here. All students are expected to have completed the summer reading and expect a project in the first couple of weeks. The project will count as an ELA project grade in the first trimester. There will be a visual diarama/shadow box and an oral presentation expected. Students are expected to know their presentations. They may use index cards or note papers to assist with their oral presentation, but points will be deducted for simply reading the entire presentation off of the paper. Eye contact with the audience is a must. Audibility is expected, which means everyone in the room needs to be able to hear the presentation. More in depth details will be given in class. It is also an expectation that each student practice and memorize their multiplication facts 2 through 12. We will assess your speed using CBM's and around the world. Memorizing multiplication facts will make success in mathematics easier. Take the time to learn them now, so you can breeze through some of math this year. Students are also expected to read each night for at least 20 minutes. Once school begins students will be held accountable for this nightly reading by completing a read and respond sheet each night that must be signed each night by a parent or guardian. This is also true of agendas. Agendas should be checked and signed each night. Parents/guardians should not sign the agenda for the week. The expectation is that a parent/guardian will be reviewing the agenda each night. This will ensure everyone being aware of any changes in homework or projects. Agendas are a great source of communication between the teachers and parents/guardians. Quick notes can be written and responded to, in order to keep a constant and open communication between the classroom and home. |
